Angolan Ambassador Visited International University of Japan (IUJ)

On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, His Excellency Mr. Edward Wade Appleton, Jr., Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Japan, visited the International University of Japan (IUJ).

During the visit, IUJ President Kikkawa provided an overview of the university, highlighting its student body size, the diversity of regional backgrounds, and the highly international learning environment.

He also shared information on the enrollment of students from African countries, including Angola.

Ambassador Appleton noted that a graduate from Angola who completed their studies at IUJ last year had reported an enriching and fulfilling experience, gaining valuable knowledge and diverse connections that would greatly benefit their future career.

The Ambassador also expressed that he had long wished to visit IUJ personally, and emphasized his intention to continue supporting Angolan students studying at IUJ in cooperation with our university.

In addition, the Ambassador expressed deep appreciation for the support Angola has received in various sectors through Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA).

He voiced his hope that the cordial relations between Japan and Angola will continue to grow stronger, with increased opportunities for people-to-people exchanges.

IUJ will continue to promote academic and cultural exchanges with countries around the world, including those in Africa, while fostering the development of individuals who can contribute to the global community.
