Cross Cultural Communication Training Program for Yokohama Municipal Minami Senior High School students was held on Nov. 5th to 6th on campus

The training program was conducted in all English with an emphasis on “output” in English. On the first day, students attended a lecture of Cross Cultural Communication presented by Professor Mohammed Ahmed, Director of the Center for Language Education and Research, the International University of Japan, with the cooperation of IUJ students who participated to the lectures as facilitators.
During the lecture, we compared Japanese cultures, customs, and ways of thinking with other countries ” What are the reasons that make the viewpoint and thinking different depending on culture? ” We also conducted group discussion with facilitators and presentation.
On the second day, we organized a campus tour and activities with facilitators, and worked to strengthen the “output” in English throughout the two days.

We have promoted collaboration with Super Global High School Program since IUJ was selected for “Top Global University Project”in 2014 by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
Yokohama Municipal Minami Senior High School was selected for Super Global High School Program* in 2015 and solve social issues by sustainable social business with Southeast Asia as the main field, centering on “The Period of Integrated Study**” They are working on nurturing next-generation business leaders who can conceive and practice ideas.

Based on our concept of Top Global University Project, we have led the globalization of Japanese society and education.

* The Super Global High School Program aims to foster globalized leaders who will be able to play active roles on the international stage through education at high schools that contribute to this mission. Students will achieve goals such as awareness and deep knowledge of social issues, communication ability and problem-solving skills.

** The newly established Period of Integrated Study aims, in accordance with situations of each region, school and child, to: {1} foster children’s ability and quality to find a theme, think, judge and solve a problem on their own; and {2} enable children to think about their own life, urging them to explore subjects with creativity and subjectivity and to solve problems through their own ways of learning and thinking.
