IUJ-AAT Cooperative Office, Myanmar (IUJ Myanmar Office) Opens
The International University of Japan (IUJ) opened the IUJ-AAT Cooperative Office, Myanmar (IUJ Myanmar Office) on March 1, 2020. The IUJ Myanmar Office is IUJ’s second overseas office after Vietnam. While conducting public relations activities for IUJ, through human resources development in collaboration with the Myanmar government, international cooperation agencies, educational institutions, and companies, the IUJ Myanmar Office will help drive the further globalization of Japanese society and strive to contribute to both Japan and Myanmar for the future.
In September 2014, IUJ’s proposal, “IUJ Evolution – Establishing a New Global Standard from Asia -” was adopted for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology – Japan’s Top Global University Project. The IUJ Myanmar Office was established as part of that proposal.
To mark the establishment of the IUJ Myanmar Office, opening ceremonies were held in Yangon, Mandalay, and Naypyitaw, where many IUJ graduates are now working. The opening ceremonies were attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Ichiro Maruyama, Chairman of General Incorporated Association Japan Myanmar Association, Hideo Watanabe, The Nippon Foundation Executive Director Yuji Mori, Yangon University of Foreign Languages Rector Dr. Kyi Shwin, and many other dignitaries from the local government, Japanese and local companies, and educational institutions.
