IUJ to Co-Host TICAD 9 with JICA and KIC on August 20, 2025
We are pleased to announce that the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) will be held in Yokohama from August 19 to 22, 2025.
As part of this international conference, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will host a series of thematic events. Among them, one special event will be co-organized by the International University of Japan (IUJ) and the Kobe Institute of Computing (KIC).
We are proud to share that Ms. Mary Magdalene Kemuma Matogo (Kenya), an IUJ alumna from the International Relations Program (Class of 2018) and currently working for Marubeni Corporation, has been selected as one of the panelists. IUJ Vice President, Prof. Kato, will also deliver the closing remarks.

Liberian Ambassador Visited International University of Japan (IUJ)
On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, His Excellency Mr. Edward Wade Appleton, Jr., Ambassador of the Republic of Liberia to Japan, visited the International University of Japan (IUJ).
During the visit, IUJ President Kikkawa provided an overview of the university, highlighting its student body size, the diversity of regional backgrounds, and the highly international learning environment.
He also shared information on the enrollment of students from African countries, including Liberia.
Ambassador Appleton noted that a graduate from Liberian who completed their studies at IUJ last year had reported an enriching and fulfilling experience, gaining valuable knowledge and diverse connections that would greatly benefit their future career.
The Ambassador also expressed that he had long wished to visit IUJ personally, and emphasized his intention to continue supporting Liberian students studying at IUJ in cooperation with our university.
In addition, the Ambassador expressed deep appreciation for the support Liberia has received in various sectors through Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA).
He voiced his hope that the cordial relations between Japan and Liberia will continue to grow stronger, with increased opportunities for people-to-people exchanges.
IUJ will continue to promote academic and cultural exchanges with countries around the world, including those in Africa, while fostering the development of individuals who can contribute to the global community.
