“Joint Declaration of Intent” was signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Republic of Costa Rica, among the Ministry, JICA and IUJ

On November 27, 2023 (local time), “Joint Declaration of Intent (JDoI)” was signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Republic of Costa Rica, among the Ministry, JICA and IUJ.

The “Joint Declaration of Intent between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of the Republic of Costa Rica, JICA, and IUJ” outlines the trilateral cooperation framework for the dispatch of Costa Rican government officials to the International Public Policy Program (IPPP) offered by the Graduate School of International Relations, IUJ, through the SDGs Global Leader Program-a long-term training program for postgraduate course scholars implemented by JICA. This initiative, scheduled for 2024 and beyond, establishes a clear cooperation structure among the three organizations. The main focus is to facilitate the effective selection and approval of candidates by the ministry and their acceptance into the IPPP through the SDGS Global Leaders Program.

Preceding the signing ceremony, Professor Itami, the former IUJ president, conducted a special lecture under the JICA Chair for young diplomats and faculty members from national universities in the country.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Andre, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica, Mr. Komatsu, the Ambassador of Japan to Costa Rica, Mr. Takano, the Director of the JICA Costa Rica Office, and Professor Itami, the former president of IUJ.

The conclusion of this memorandum is expected to contribute to the development of human resources of Costa Rican government officials, by our university.
