Tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor/Professor Position in Public Management and Policy
The Public Management and Policy Analysis Program (PMPP) in the Graduate School of International Relations (GSIR) at the International University of Japan (IUJ) invites applications for a tenure-track position in public policy or public management at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to begin in January 2026 (or April 2026 at the latest).
Prospective candidates are expected to be able to teach graduate-level courses in the field of public policy process, public finance and budgeting, or other related subjects. Applicants should have a doctorate degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, or other relevant disciplines by the time of appointment. English fluency is required, while Japanese fluency is preferable but not required. We also welcome applicants with professional and practical experience in public finance or policymaking.
The successful candidate will teach 4 eight-week courses in the Master program per academic year. IUJ adopts a three-semester system (fall, winter, and spring) in which each faculty member regularly teaches one course in two of the three semesters and two courses in the remaining one semester. In addition, the candidate will supervise around 5 students to complete their master’s theses or research reports throughout an academic year. At least one business trip to a developing country is required in a year.
The starting salary is 7 million yen per annum. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, and additional benefits are provided for housing or commuting. IUJ provides on-campus housing options for faculty and their families.

Tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor Position in Political Science
The International Relations Program (IRP) at the Graduate School of International Relations (GSIR) of the International University of Japan (IUJ) offers Master’s and PhD degrees in International Relations and a Master’s degree in Political Science. The IRP currently seeks applications for a tenure-track position (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor level) to begin September 2025 or later.
Prospective candidates are expected to:
- have a doctorate degree in Political Science or a relevant field by the time of the appointment
- be able to teach graduate-level courses in the field of Political Economy and/or Political Institutions and Governance
- regional focus on African countries is preferred
- English fluency is required; Japanese proficiency is preferred but not necessary
The successful candidate will teach four eight-week-long courses in the Master’s program per academic year, distributed across the three terms (fall, winter, and spring). In addition, the candidate will supervise graduate research projects (master’s thesis or research reports) and serve on the PhD supervisory committee throughout an academic year once eligible. One overseas business trip per academic year may be required.
