The Planning for a New Recycling Facility (New Regional EcoCenter)*

International University of Japan (IUJ) has not yet decided anything about the city’s planning for a new Regional EcoCenter, however, we would like to announce our basic position about it in order not to cause rumors and misunderstanding within and outside of the IUJ community.   Notice IUJ has gained much support from, and coexisted with Niigata prefecture, specifically the Uonuma region, for nearly forty years since our foundation. Library Day Event – “Better Research, Better Life”

Matsushita Library Information Center (MLIC) event, “LIBRARY DAY” was held in MLIC Hall on Saturday, October 26th. The 1st International Business Conference was held at the Vietnam – Japan Institute for Human Resources Development

This April, a joint office for the International University of Japan (hereinafter IUJ) and Vietnam – Japan Institute for Human Resources Development (hereinafter VJCC) opened on the 2nd floor of the VJCC at the Foreign Trade University (hereinafter FTU) in Hanoi, Vietnam. As a joint project between IUJ and VJCC, on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at 9:00 am, on the 3rd floor of the VJCC, the 1st International Business Conference was held on the theme of “Enhancing Business Development between Vietnam and Japan”, and keynote speeches, including one by President Hiroyuki Itami, were presented. JICA President Shinichi Kitaoka delivers first guest lecture for IUJ’s Japan-Global Development Program

On October 4th, Shinichi Kitaoka presented a special lecture on “Japan’s modernization and Fukuzawa Yukichi” at the MLIC Hall. Kitaoka is the current president of JICA, and a former professor and president of IUJ. The lecture was part of the Japan-Global Development Program operated jointly by IUJ and JICA, but was open to any interested students. The lecture gave an overview of Japan’s modernization after the Meiji Restoration, from the perspective of political and diplomatic history. Kitaoka described the transition from the feudal systems of the Edo period (1603-1868) to the modern political institutions and industrial state of the Meiji era. The International University of Japan is holding an online information session on Saturday, November 16th from 10am until 11am, to give prospective students insight into what the school has to offer. IUJ was established in 1982 as the first English-language graduate school in Japan. IUJ held its 2019 New Student Welcome Day

IUJ had the pleasure of officially introducing 160 new students from 39 countries to the campus at the annual Welcome Day event on Friday September 27. Students were introduced one by one according to where they were from. President Itami welcomed the students to the IUJ family and talked about what to expect from studying here. It’s going to be a unique opportunity to experience not only Japanese culture but also to have multicultural interactions among peers.
