Generous scholarship support is provided to IUJ students from the following valued partners:

  • Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Asia

    Since 2001 the IDP of GSIR has been one of the four partner programs in Japan participating in the Japan-IMF Scholarship program specifically for government officials in Asia, funded by the government of Japan and administered by the IMF Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (OAP). In 2010, IUJ was selected again for a 7-year contract to host carefully selected scholarship recipients. In addition, IUJ has proudly provided special Skill-Refreshing Courses (SRC) to IMF’s newly selected scholars as part of their preparation for MA programs at partnership universities.

  • Asian Development Bank - Japan Scholarship Program

    The Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) offers about 150 postgraduate scholarships a year for studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at participating academic institutions. IUJ, among the 29 academic institutions in 10 countries within the region, and as one of the 15 academic institutions in Japan, has been accepting ADB scholars since the launch of the ADB-JSP in 1988. The ADB-JSP scholars at IUJ study in various master’s programs, including IUJ’s MBA, with the expectations that they will contribute to the economic and social development of their home countries after completing their degree. IUJ has graduated more than 350 students under this esteemed program.

    Scholarships are available to citizens of the following countries/areas:

  • Japan Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) Program

    IUJ is a proud partner of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and honored to provide education to government officials from throughout Asia in the fields of economics, policy analysis, peace studies, good governance and more under this special scholarship program partnership. Most graduates under the JDS Program are now contributing to the socio-economic development of their home countries working in their governments or public sectors.

  • Professional Human Resource Development Project with the Indonesian Government

    GSIR has been selected by the Indonesian government to run its Professional Human Resource Development Project Phase III (PHRDP-III) funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Loan since 2006. Under the project, the National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) and the Ministry of Finance (MOF) send Indonesian government officials to the GSIR to strengthen the capacities of government institutions in the field of sustainable economic development. GSIR has established a linkage Master’s program (double-degree program) with three reputable Indonesian universities (the University of Indonesia, the University of Gadjah Mada, and Padjadjaran University) and accepts more than 20 Indonesian government officials as linkage Master’s students in the IDP or PMPP every year. In this linkage program, scholars take core courses at Indonesian universities in the first year. In the second year, they take applied courses and write a thesis on a research topic of their choice at IUJ and are awarded an MA in International Development or Public Management. In addition, GSIR is also designated by the MOF in Indonesia to accept about five officials as two-year Master’s students every year. Furthermore, in collaboration with BAPPENAS and the Bandung Institute of Technology, GSIR organizes non-degree linkage programs for Local Economic Resource Development.

Toward the Future – Linking Japan to the World

IUJ actively seeks additional partnerships with key governments, businesses and institutions. IUJ wants to be the link between these entities in Japan and the world, drawing upon our vast alumni network, exciting pool of employee talent and timely research agendas. Partnership can include training employees with our established or customized on-degree programs, support in finding human resources needed for business expansion, offering workshops to human resources officers or those heading to overseas managerial positions, and most of all providing the service of linking Japan to the world.
