IUJ Holds 2026 Graduation Ceremony: 183 Graduates from 44 Countries and Regions Set Out to the World

International University of Japan (IUJ; Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture; President: Takeo Kikkawa) held its 2026 Graduation Ceremony (Commencement Ceremony) on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
This year, 183 students from 44 countries and regions completed their master’s and doctoral programs at IUJ and are now taking their next steps in their home countries, international organizations, and global companies. The graduating class consisted of 178 international students and 5 Japanese students, representing a diverse range of backgrounds, including the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Japan, and Mongolia.
At the ceremony, IUJ President Takeo Kikkawa addressed the graduates, noting the divisions and conflicts seen around the world today, while emphasizing that “humanity has always overcome such challenges.” He highlighted three essential capacities for shaping the future: the ability to establish and express one’s own identity, the ability to embrace diversity, and the ability to find and implement solutions. He noted that these competencies have been cultivated through the IUJ learning environment, where students from diverse countries and regions study and live together.
He further delivered the following message to the graduates:
“As for me, I know that my remaining years are limited. Even so, I intend to make the most of them and live them as admirably as I can.
Someday, somewhere in the world, I sincerely look forward to meeting you again—not only as graduates of IUJ, but as good rivals and good friends.”
Finally, IUJ extends its heartfelt respect and gratitude to all graduates who studied at the Urasa campus, surrounded by Japan’s rich natural landscape reminiscent of traditional Japanese rural scenery, as well as to their families who have supported them throughout their journey. IUJ will continue to foster global talent capable of thriving in a world where diverse values intersect.
