Tests (TOEFL, GMAT, etc)

Q. Am I exempt from submitting an English proficiency test score?

A. Applicants who have received an English-medium education for at least four years during their secondary studies in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the U.K. or the U.S.A., regardless of nationality, will be automatically exempted from submitting an English test score.  (As of 2026)

Applicants who have completed (or are expected to complete) an undergraduate or graduate degree at an institution where the language of instruction is English may be exempted from submitting an English test score if they submit evidence* that the medium of instruction is English at the institution granting the degree.

Please see the full exemption policy guidelines, and categories, in the Admissions Guidelines.

Q. May I submit an official letter from my university certifying my English proficiency instead of English scores?

A. No. An official TOEFL or IELTS score report is one of the required application documents. We also accept an official TOEIC score certificate as a substitute. Please note that no other test scores or documents, including letters from universities certifying an applicant’s English proficiency, will be accepted.

Q. Does the admissions committee accept a photocopy of my TOEFL score report?

A. No.

If you send a copy, you still must request the official score report be sent to IUJ directly from ETS (ETS Institution Code: 0712).

Q. How old can my English score be to be accepted?

A. TOEFL, IELTS, and TOEIC scores are considered valid for admission purposes if they were obtained within two years prior to the application date.

A. IUJ’s institution code is:
0712 for TOEFL

Q. My TOEFL score is already above 100 on internet based (or 600 paper-based) exam. Do I still have to enroll in the Intensive English Program (IEP)?

A. Even so, you are recommended to take the IEP if you are not confident about your English skills including writing and oral presentation skills etc. or you feel you lack the ability to satisfy all the requirements in the content courses.

Q. Do I need to submit a GMAT and a TOEFL score to apply to your MBA/JGDP/DXP? (GSIM Only)

A. Yes, both GMAT and TOEFL* scores are required documents for admission. Your scores must be sent directly to IUJ from the test venders.

You may submit an IELTS or a TOEIC score instead of a TOEFL score.

You may submit a GRE score instead of a GMAT score.

The IUJ Math Test is also an option for DXP applicants. Those MBA and JGDP applicants can choose to take the IUJ math test in the 3rd intake only. Contact the Admissions staff for details.
