Position Announcement
The Graduate School of International Management (GSIM) at the International University of Japan (IUJ) seeks a tenure-track faculty in the Strategic Management, Business Management, and Financial areas. The positions are open to all ranks (Associate or Assistant Professor, Full Professor). The appointment starts from September 2026.
1. Strategic Management Area
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Business Administration or a related field.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research.
- Credentials that meet AACSB accreditation requirements.
Teaching Areas

Compensation and Teaching Load
- Compensation is commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
- Minimum salary levels: Assistant Professor: 7 million JPY/ Associate Professor: 8 million JPY/ Full Professor: 9 million JPY
- Adjustments may be made based on qualifications and achievements.
- Additional payments are available for teaching beyond the minimum requirements or in executive education programs (often amounting to approximately 1 million JPY annually).
- Teaching load: 96 hours per academic year, all at the MBA level in English. Each course runs for eight weeks.
- GSIM provides research funding and subscribes to major databases including ScienceDirect, EBSCO, ProQuest, Capital IQ, LSEG Database, and Eikon with Datastream.

2. Business Management Area
A candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Business Administration or its related fields and demonstrate excellence in teaching and research capabilities. The specific areas of the candidate teaching are follows:

Compensation is commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. The teaching load is four courses per academic year, all at MBA level in English. Each course lasts eight weeks. Based on experience and interest, additional teaching opportunities are also available in the growing executive education programs. GSIM also offers research funding. The school subscribes to major databases such as Lexis Advance, EBSCO, ProQuest, Capital IQ, Eikon with Datastream, etc. Applications will be considered until the position is filled, but we want to set a tentative deadline for March 31, 2026.

A contract-based compensation is commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Salary levels are summarized as follow:
Minimum level:
- Assistant Professor 7 million JPY
- Associate Professor 8 million JPY
- Full Professor 9 million JPY
Possible adjustment:
Depending on the applicant’s qualification and past achievement, additional payment is possible.
Extra payment:
If the applicant teaches more than the minimum teaching requirements or for the executive programs, substantial extra payment will be added. The total amount of extra payment will of course depend on each faculty’s participation in extra teaching and often amount to one million JPY a year.

3. Financial
Qualifications
- Applicants should have completed a PhD in Accounting (or Finance with accounting emphasis) prior to the start date of the position.
- The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching the following MBA courses: “Financial Accounting”, “Managerial Accounting”, and “Financial Statement Analysis”.
- Previous industry experience and a professional license are preferred but not necessary.
- The language of instruction is English. Competence in the Japanese language is not required.
The teaching load is four eight-week courses per academic year (96 hours in total). Compensation is commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience, which are in line with the Japanese academic market. The minimum compensation for Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor will be 7 million JPY, 8 million JPY, and 9 million JPY, respectively. Research grants are also available through GSIM, contingent upon academic achievement.
