Intensive MBA Program (IMBA)
Educating Innovative and Responsible Leaders Equipped with a Global Network
Climate change and the rapid digitalization of business processes are inducing a paradigm shift in the way we conduct business. Corporations are placing increasing emphasis on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. The Paris Agreement, with the global commitment to pursue efforts to limit temperature increase to between 1.5 degrees to 2.0 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, requires managers to be cognizant of climate risks and ESG issues and integrate them into business performance. In recent years, trends like digitalization, artificial intelligence, machine learning, etc. are rapidly dominating the business space. Future leaders need to gain new knowledge and perspectives on these rapidly evolving issues and trends. IUJ's IMBA program prepares future leaders to meet these new challenges.
The 12-month IMBA program curriculum is compact, rigorous, and demanding. We believe in building core competencies that enable managers to respond with innovative solutions for their businesses. Cases are predominantly used to better prepare managers to apply what they have learned to real business situations. The cases focus on issues in both advanced economies and emerging markets in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. At IUJ, students from diverse nationalities work, play, and learn together on a daily basis. Summer capstone courses are the final wrap-up for the IMBA program.

Mayu Yoshida

The IMBA program at IUJ was an intense yet rewarding journey—condensed into one year while offering the depth of a two-year MBA. Through dormitory life and group work, I engaged closely with peers from diverse cultural, political, and religious backgrounds, which transformed my perspective and values.
I discovered the importance of balancing differences with shared common ground—an essential skill in today’s international environment. Another unique benefit was being exposed to English spoken in many different accents, which greatly improved my communication skills. Although challenging at first, my understanding grew significantly, and I could clearly see my personal growth.
This one year was truly unforgettable. Beyond knowledge and skills, I gained the ability to embrace diverse perspectives and built a lifelong global network—assets that will be invaluable throughout my career.

Can you imagine a situation where there are many nationalities in one place? Asia, Africa, Europe, the Americas. You can learn a lot from excellent faculty members in class, but more than that, you can experience the real world from all the students at IUJ. IUJ’s program gave me real knowledge about how I can work with people with different backgrounds, which has been a benefit beyond my expectations.
