Warm Welcome & International Vibe

The welcome event was a fantastic opportunity to meet peers from all over the world, particularly from Canada. The International Relations Manager, gave us a warm personal welcome—she even knew we were exchange students from IUJ! A quick campus tour helped us settle in comfortably before classes began.

Interactive Learning & Classroom Dynamics

The course relied heavily on group activities, discussions, and presentations. Since the teaching style closely mirrored what I was used to at IUJ, adapting was very easy. While most participants were international, having a local French classmate added invaluable native perspectives during discussions on French business and culture.

Practical Field Trips & Industry Visits

The program extended well beyond the classroom with practical field trips. We visited an urban winery—directly aligned with our course topic—a local café, and a major rugby stadium. Exploring these sites gave us unique, real-world insights into event management and hospitality.

Campus Facilities & Daily Life

Most of our time was spent in the Business School building. While the summer break meant fewer students on campus and limited cafeteria options, the student-run bakery inside the building was a unique highlight where students gained hands-on experience.

Accommodation, Transport & Exploring Lyon

I stayed in an Airbnb for the two-week duration. Navigating Lyon was very easy thanks to convenient public transport, and the school even provided us with a free three-day transport pass upon arrival. Despite the intense summer heat, I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the city after class and took memorable day trips to Annecy and Geneva.

Overall Impression & Advice for Future Students

This program is best approached as an experiential learning opportunity—combining Lyon’s rich culture with lessons in French gastronomy and hospitality.

Message for Future Students

While two weeks flew by quickly, it was an unforgettable experience. If your schedule allows, I highly recommend opting for a month-long program to fully immerse yourself in both the academics and local life!
