We are deeply saddened to announce that Associate Professor Yusuke Jinnai of the Graduate School of International Relations passed away on August 9, 2026, at the age of 49.
Associate Professor Jinnai joined IUJ in September 2013 and contributed to teaching and research in the International Development Program of the Graduate School of International Relations. His courses included Statistics, Labor Economics, Japan’s Education System, and Policy Evaluation. He devoted himself to teaching and supervising students from a wide range of countries and regions. At the doctoral level, he also served as a faculty member of the Economics Cluster, supervising students pursuing careers as researchers.
From April 2020 to August 2024, he served as Director of the IUJ Research Institute and made significant contributions to advancing research activities at IUJ.
We honor his memory and his many contributions to IUJ and extend our deepest condolences to his family.
