Homestay Information

IUJ does not coordinate its own Homestay Program for its students. However, we do offer information on several organizations that do. Please pick up handouts in the OSS on some of these.
We recommend that you register with the Niigata International Association. This is an independent group that puts foreign students in touch with Niigata families for short-term stays. Winter vacations, Spring Break and a week or two in the summer are the most frequent times IUJ students make use of NIA's program. Forms for applying to NIA are available in the OSS. As you see from the linked page, there are International Associations all over Japan that might be able to assist you with a homestay in another region.Another local group that is active with IUJ students in the Hippo Family Club out of Nagaoka. This group often invites IUJ students for a weekend homestay by coordinating with the OSS. The Hippo Family Club is interested in learning from you, improving their foreign language study (mostly English, but certainly not limited to that language), and about your cultures.Hippo Family Club - This is the Hiroshima club`s homepage. There are many all over Japan, including Nagaoka that offers IUJ students Homestays. One Hippo Family Club can introduce you to another in the area of your choice. These are usually for SHORT TERM stays, but a great network of friendly people to work with.
If you find a good Homestay program, please inform the OSS and bring us any literature so that we might share it with those that come after you.
