Senmaida
|
|
"Senmaida" literally means "a thousand rice paddies". In the past, tiered rice paddies like this were a common site all along the Sea of Japan coast. Today, such scenery is difficult to find, but still accessible for those really interested. This is one of the most famous existing seaside rice paddies,(near Wajima, on the Noto peninsula), but you can also find similar scenery on Sado Island, a 2 hour ferry ride from Niigata City.
