Journals and Periodicals

The library subscribes to about 300 printed journals and periodicals. In addition, the library provides access to journals via the full text electronic journals and a document delivery service. All journals with active subscription from 2009 up to the current issues are available on the second floor, in Journals Section. The issues prior to 2009 are stored in the basement, which is designated as a closed stacks area, and a regular Retrieval Service of storage materials is available from the Circulation Desk.

Newspapers

MLIC currently subscribes to 7 foreign language newspapers and 9 Japanese language newspapers, including the bound versions. Current newspapers are generally displayed for a week, but the display period depends on the newspaper's frequency and arrival. Back issues are retained for 3 months and discarded thereafter. A Retrieval Service is available from the Circulation Desk.

Daily news articles from leading newspapers are available in full text through LexisNexis.
For Asahi Shimbun, KIKUZO-DNA for Libraries is available since 1984.
