The 2nd Annual North East Asian Region (N.E.A.R.) Language Education Conference was held on Saturday, May 29, 2010 on the campus of the University of Niigata Prefecture in Niigata, Japan.

The conference was again able to bring together a significant number of presenters and participants. The plenary session by Prof. Joseph Shaules was very interesting and intellectually stimulating for all of us as professional language teachers and researchers.

The organizers of the NEAR 2010 Conference wish to sincerely thank all the presenters and the participants for their contributions in making this conference successful. We also thank the publishers for giving us valuable support.

Our third annual conference, NEAR 2011, will be held on the campus of the International University of Japan on May 28, 2011. The campus is conveniently located in a scenic rural setting surrounded by mountains.

We warmly welcome you to join NEAR 2011 as a presenter or a participant.

第2回大会は2010年5月29日(土)に新潟県立大学にて開催されました。 

今年も多くの発表者と参加者を迎え、各会場で活発な議論ができました。また、ジョセフ・ショールズ氏による基調講演では、言語教育者・研究者にとって興味深く刺激的な話をうかがうことができました。

2010年大会の成功は、発表者並びに参加してくださった皆様のおかげと、主催者一同感謝しております。協賛してくださった出版社の方々にも感謝申し上げたいと思います。 第3回大会は2011年5月28日に国際大学にて開催されます。大学キャンパスは山々に囲まれた自然豊かな場所にあり、アクセスも便利です。

Conference Organization この学会は

The conference is organized by the International University of Japan,  the new University of Niigata Prefecture and the Niigata Chapter of JALT.

Considering Niigata's position on the Japan Sea Coast and our strong connections to the other countries around the Japan Sea Rim, the conference focuses on Language Learning in the North East Asia Region (N.E.A.R.). It provides an excellent opportunity to share ideas with a diverse group of colleagues.

本学会は国際大学、新潟県立大学、ＪＡＬＴ新潟支部の共催です。

新潟の環日本海地域との密接な関係を考慮し、英語及び北東アジアの諸言語の言語教育研究を中心テーマに据えました。言語教育に関係していらっしゃる様々な方々のためのヒントを提供する場となれたのではないかと自負しております。

Conference Debut 前回は

This unique conference successfully debuted on May 30, 2009, on the campus of the University of Niigata Prefecture (UNP).

The first conference featured keynote speakers,  displays of publishers' materials and presentations from local, national and international teachers. It opened the floor to presenters who work with not only English, but also any of the N.E.A.R. languages - Russian, Chinese, Korean and Japanese.

発表者と参加者みなさまのおかげで、学会は2009年５月３０日に新潟県立大学にて無事行われました。 積極的にご支援してくださった出版社とボランティアの県立大学の皆様にも感謝いたします。

今回の学会では、基調講演、出版社の展示販売コーナー、国内外からの教師の皆様からの発表の場を設けまして、英語だけでなく、ロシア語、中国語、韓国語、日本語などの様々な北東アジア地域の言語教育に携わる教員の方に来ていただきました。
