Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship with Embassy recommendation

Details

E  Obtain application forms at the Japanese Embassy or Consulate General in your country and submit the application to them between March and May in accordance with the appropriate application deadlines. Please note that selection schedules are slightly different depending on the country. Contact information for Japanese Embassies and Consulates are available on the Internet.

E  Only applicants who have passed the preliminary screening conducted by the Japanese Embassy/Consulate General and who have secured a certificate of preliminary selection can communicate with the Japanese university of their choice for a Letter of Acceptance, which must be submitted to the Japanese Embassy/Consulate General by the end of August (Universities do not accept any requests for letters of acceptance after the end of August).

E  Applicants who wish to enroll at IUJ must fulfill its application requirements.  Please contact the appropriate graduate school (GSIR or GSIM) and follow their instructions. You will be requested to complete the prescribed application form as well as submit other supporting documents including a test score, such as TOEFL/IELTS and/or GMAT. It may be difficult to communicate with IUJ administration offices and professors during the summer when IUJ is on summer vacation. If you are determined to study at IUJ using a MEXT Scholarship with Embassy recommendation, we strongly recommend that you contact GSIR or GSIM as early as possible, upon receiving a certificate of preliminary selection, in order to have a Letter of Acceptance issued in a timely manner.

Note: IUJ will accept MEXT scholars only for the period needed to complete the degree for which the scholar plans to enroll. An additional 6 months of Japanese language training is not necessary for MEXT scholars who enroll at IUJ.
