Ariosto S. Gonzales, IDP Class of 2007 (IMF-JISPA)

Currently, I am working for the Department of Finance, Republic of the Philippines, as Senior Economist at the Domestic Finance Group. As a Senior Economist, I have active and continuous involvement in the conduct of major/in-depth research studies and position papers in public finance and economic issues and prop osals, formulation of recommendations on appropriate policies in public finance, and evaluation of legislative and economic policy proposals.

The Japan-International Monetary Fund (IMF) Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA) provided me the opportunity to further enhance my knowledge and expertise in the fields of public finance, international and development economics. It also enabled me to improve my background in the area of health economics, project cycle management, WTO and FTA, governance structure and economic development, among others. I firmly believe that the knowledge and experience I have gained from my post-graduate studies in IUJ, through the JISPA support, have made me better equipped with tools necessary for such a demanding profession.
